"Ella no es tuya" Music video analysis

I have completed this analysis with my classmates in order to compare and share different opinions and gain more knowledge on the industry.

Narrative: The narrative of the video doesn't follow the meaning of the song which can sometimes distract the audience reception. Clear examples of this is the shot of the motorbikes as it does not relate in any case with the song. However, as the lyrics include slang words and typical words which were created in hoods and ghettos, the setting can be related to the narrative. 

Representation:

Gender: Most of the people which appear in the video are men such as “Myke Towers” and “Rochy RD” meaning that is mainly targeted at men. However, as Nicki Nikole is a feminine artist, women can also be presented to it. Additionally, we can appreciate a model throughout the clip. Furthermore, the scene of the motorbikes is stereotypical of the hood and crime as they match with the codes and conventions of it.

Ethnicity: Throughout the clip, we can see a wide representation of races. This is because both Rochy RD and Myke Towers represent the black race. On the other hand, Nicki Nickole is white which can also represent the white race group.

Class and age> It seems the video is aimed at a high class due to all the props used in these such as golden chains or the phones which are used throughout the clip. Furthermore, some of the settings in which the clip was recorded represents luxury and exclusiveness. In terms of age, it represents the teenage group as the 3 singers and their performers are near their mid 20s.

Editing and Pace:

We can appreciate in the music video that it is predominated by short length of take making the video very dynamic where we can see the 3 artists individually on the mise-en-scene. Furthermore, the beat of the song matches perfectly with the cuts throughout the frames.

Cinematography: The average duration time of each shot in Ella No Es Tuya is approximately 6s and the shots are always moving where we can see low angle shots. The types of shots being used are long (we can see how the 3 artists are always looking towards the camera and we can see how they act in a performance way), close-up zoom in shots towards the artists we constantly see how the camera doesn't stop moving, making the music video very active.

MISE-EN-SCENE:

Most of the recording is in inside locations giving no access to natural light with no windows although we can see a scene of Rochy RD and Myke Towers going on a motorbike trip with many bikes behind, colours (warm palette), the performance through the clip is of the 3 artists constantly moving and doing a performance relationated with the lyrics of the song, facial expression is of happiness, body language of dancing, costumes (fashionable street clothes and luxurious accessories), settings and finally we can see the artists doing lip syncing throughout the music video.
