Importance of alcohol in music videos

The importance of alcohol in my music video 

As mentioned in previous posts, one of the props which would be seen in my music video is the use of alcohol. In this post, after researching the possible effects it has,  I will explain why I believe the use of this item is important and why it will help to create meaning to the audience. 

Note: As done last year, I will use apple juice as if it was real alcohol. 

What is depression? 

Unstable individuals who suffer from depression are more likely to abuse alcohol. People who suffer from depression continually experience feelings of sadness and hopelessness. Consequently, this can affect many aspects of life, including professional responsibilities, personal goals and relationships with family members and friends. 

Why do individuals start to drink alcohol?

For people struggling with depression, alcohol is normally used to suppress symptoms. Therefore, drinking becomes a way of escapism. However, if alcohol is used as a way of self-medication it can lead to negative physical impacts and a reduction in their mental health. 

What are the effects of drinking alcohol? 

Abuse of alcohol consumption can alter the brain's neurotransmitters. Chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine will fluctuate rapidly with alcohol consumption. 

Serotonin helps balance the person's mood and dopamine controls the brain's reward system. 

Overall, I believe that the use of alcohol will help the audience to understand the text and it will help my protagonist to express his feelings. Due to the reasons above, alcohol helps suppress the feelings which is clearly what my actor (Jaime Viani) needs after the breakup experienced shortly before the recording starts.
