Mise-en-scene

The various elements used in the set helps express the director's vision by generating a sense of time and space, as well as setting a mood and creating a connection between the characters and the audience. The composition, which consists of the positioning and position of the actors in the shot, is also part of mise-en-scene. Therefore, depending on the focus and the importance I give to this media technique, the greater the impact my music video will have on the viewers. I have decided to create this post in order to analyze how I am going to use this technique and take advantage of it. 

Mise-en-scene is the arrangement of the scenery, props, costume, lighting, color, location and male up on the set of a musical video. 

1. Although the theme of the song is sad and denotes coldness, I will try to use brighter colors and settings in order to make it more appealing to my audience. This is due to the fact that people perceive brighter colors better than faintier shades. Bright colors and contrasting colors stand out more in their field of vision. The outfit of my protagonist will have brighter colors, making it more appealing to my audience although he will still be wearing normal clothes as he is imitating a normal teenager. 

2. The lighting of my scenes will be a combination of high key lighting and low key lighting as I will record my video in different time scenes and locations. Although, I still have to plan my shooting schedule. I have planned to record in different days and time zones, one of them being at mid-day and another one at night. 

3. Similarly to my lightning, I will use different locations. One of them being the normal streets of Madrid, at the car, and at home. 

The atmosphere I will try to create by using these techniques, is a sad environment as it is the main subject of my music video. I believe that by using this technique among others (which still have to be planned), I believe that I will effectively transmit the message and create empathy from part of the audience.
